1 Range
These application notes are the application guide for the G123-825 buffer amplifier. They will show you how to install, connect, and adjust the buffer amplifier. They don’t tell you how to design a closed-loop system that uses it.
2 Description
The G123-825 buffer amplifier offers two types of interfaces and filters.
2.1 PLC 10V and 4-20mA
It is connected to the standard PLC analog output module with Moog valve on one side and Moog valve on the other. It simplifies the use of PLC in closed loop. Buffering amplifiers solve the common problem of 4-20mA or 10V PLC outputs with incompatible valve drive requirements.
2.2 Mechanical feedback valve
It is connected to the current output of the servo amplifier, with the Moog valve on one side and the other. This allows older mechanical feedback (mfb) valves to be replaced by modern electric feedback (efb) servo and proportional valves, with no changes to the servo amplifier. The buffer amplifier takes the existing servo amplifier output and converts it into efb compatible signal.
2.3 Filters
The buffer amplifier provides a filter to eliminate noise from the input signal.
3 Installation
3.1 Layout
The horizontal DIN rail, mounted on the vertical back of the industrial steel housing, is the intended method of installation. The G123-825’s guideway release clips should face downward, so that the front panel and terminal markings are readable, so that the internal electronics get a cooling airflow. An important consideration for placing the module is subject to magnetic interference (EMI) from other devices in the enclosure of the device. For example, frequency conversion and AC servo drives generate high levels of electromagnetic interference. Be sure to check the compliance of other equipment before EMC G123-825 is placed nearby.
3.2 Cooling
Air holes at the top and bottom of the G123-825 case provide cooling for the electronics inside. These vents should be cleared. Be sure that the following devices do not produce hot exhaust gases that heat G123-825.
