The AADvance T9300 I/O base unit is connected to the right side of the T9100 processor base unit (I/O Bus 1) and to the right side of the other T9300 I/O base units via direct plugs and receptacles. The I/O base unit is connected to the left side of the processor base unit via the T9310 extension cable (I/O Bus 2). The extension line also connects the right side of the I/O base unit to the left side of other I/O base units to install additional I/O base units. The base units are secured into slots on each base unit by top and bottom clamps.

Design of input loop

All applications of the controller require at least two separate grounding (ground) systems:

Ac safety ground (sometimes called “dirty ground”) to protect personnel in the event of a failure. The ground bolts on the T9100 processor base unit and all exposed metalwork (such as DIN rails) will be bonded to the AC safety ground.

The instrument is grounded (sometimes called “cleanly” or “0 volt”) to provide a good stable 0 volt reference for the system. Each returned signal grounded the reference instrument. The instrument grounding will be isolated from the AC safety grounding. ​​​​​​​

The extension bus accessed from the right hand side of the T9100 processor base unit is designated as I/O bus 1, and the bus accessed from the left hand side is designated as I/O bus 2. Module positions in the I/O basic unit are numbered from 01 to 24. Slot 01 is in the leftmost position. Thus, any individual module location within the controller can be uniquely identified by a combination of its bus and slot number, such as 1-01.

The electrical characteristics of the I/O bus interface limit the maximum possible length of the two I/O buses (a combination of the I/O base unit and the expansion cable) to 8 meters (26.24 ft).
