The T8403CX Trusted@TMR expansion processor module resides in a Trusted processor slot in the
expansion chassis and provides the expansion bus and “slave” interface chassis baseboard between the expansion
machine. The T8403CX extension bus allows the use of an extension bus to achieve unmasked twisted
pair (UTP) connectivity of multiple chassis systems while maintaining fault tolerance, high bandwidth intermodule bus (IMB) capability.
The T8403CX module provides fault control for the extender bus, the module itself, and the extender
ensuring that the impact of these potential failures is local and system availability is maximized. This module
has the fault tolerance of hft TMR architecture. Comprehensive diagnostics, monitoring and testing provide
rapid fault identification. Hot spare and module standby support configurations to allow automatic and manual repair policies

TMR extension processor is a fault-tolerant design based on TMR structure arrangement in lock-step
configuration. The basic structure of the TMR extension processor is expressed in simplified terms. The Module has
three main fault containment areas (FCRA, B, and C). The fcr contains the extension Bus and the intermodule bus (IMB) interface. The
IMB is the interface between the primary and secondary buses and
other TMR extension processors in the chassis, the control logic, the communication transceiver, and the power supply.
Communication between the module and the TMR processor is through the TMR expander interface module and
triple expansion bus. The extension bus is a triple point-to-point architecture. Each channel of the
extension bus includes separate command and response media. The expander bus interface provides
voting to ensure that cable failures are tolerated, the rest of the expansion processor is in a full triple mode, and
even in the event of a cable failure, communication between the module and the I/O module in the expander case is via the
IMB on the expander backplane. Imbs provide the same fault-tolerant,
high-bandwidth communication interface modules and TMR processors as the control chassis. As with the extension
bus interface, all transactions are voted, and if an error occurs, the error is located to the IMB.
The fourth FCR(FCR D) provides non-critical monitoring and display functions as part of the Byzantine voting
structure within the fcr. Provide isolation between FCRS that require interfaces to ensure that failures cannot propagate between them.
