FC-USI-0002 Safety management system module

The module handles Ethernet and serial communication, communicating with external devices such as Experion PKS and Safety Builder. It is located in the controller enclosure and acts as a hardware firewall, protecting the Safety functions within the Safety Manager. The module consists of the following parts:

Motorola 8260 communications processor.
EEPROM stores module-specific data, such as two MAC addresses and hardware version numbers.
8 Mbyte flash storage system and applications.
8 Mbyte Local SRAM (with error detection and correction logic) for system and application information.
256 kilobytes of shared RAM is used for data exchange between the USI-0002 and control processors.
Two two-speed fast Ethernet transceivers.
Two universal serial communication controller channels.
