The 1785-L40C is a PLC-5 controller manufactured by Allen-Bradley. This controller has various ports which includes a 25-pin D Serial port which supports the EIA RS-232C and RS413 devices and it is RS-422A compatible.

The controller has indicators to display the status of the controller systems. The BATT indicator indicates the battery status, and it turns red when the battery is low. The PROC indicator is green when running and red when there is a problem.

The FORCE indicator is amber when the I/O forces are enabled and the COMM indicator is green when the channel is communicating on the COM port. Users can install the memory module and the battery in the controller module. The 1785-L40C draws a backplane current of 3.3 Amps at 5 Volts DC.
