With the introduction of the Han®HPR HPTC, Harting offers a high performance, durable and easy to install transformer interface for both outdoor and indoor scenarios. Connectors meet all relevant railway standards, such as resistance to vibration and impermeable splash and salt spray environments. The interface is therefore equally applicable to the demand profile of the energy sector, particularly for coastal locations of energy plants and infrastructure, as well as solutions in the offshore sector.
The energy transition is in full swing and has permeated all sectors and branches of industry. Many new technologies are being developed and present companies with the challenge of transmitting large currents safely and efficiently. With the introduction of the Han®HPR HPTC, Harting is providing a long-lasting interface for high currents in energy applications – simple, direct and as safe as possible. The connector design is modular and suitable for use with both shielded and unshielded cables. The connector is designed to operate at voltages up to 4.4 kV/1400 A and can withstand a wide range of environmental conditions worldwide. The system has been tested for stability against salt spray, mechanical effects such as rock strikes, dirt and high humidity, with a protection rating of ip68/69, enabling long-term stable power transmission, such as between generators, converters, large batteries, fuel cells and transformers.
Thanks to its excellent robustness and durability, the product is fully in line with the ongoing sustainability trend while saving costs, especially due to the low installation input required and maintenance-free operations. Installation simply requires inserting
the crimp pin into the housing and screwing the sealed lid to the bottom. Heat shrink tubes and tape? There’s no need to use it. Tighten the gran head. Use of the interface is completely maintenance-free. Oiling, cleaning or further inspection can be eliminated.
HPTC can be used in 400, 850, and 1400A power supply levels, transferring more energy than current standard solutions up to 1250 A. All in all, users benefit from connector weight and material savings. Although the energy density is higher, the temperature curve remains unchanged.
Easy installation
Han®HPR HPTC requires about half the installation effort required for comparable solutions. Here’s why:
Key components are delivered before delivery. The pins are integrated into the insulator, so they are safe to touch, thus preventing errors.
The individual components fulfill many functions: the gran head protects against dust and moisture, while also being part of the shield, absorbing residual current and transferring it to the housing.
