In the phase module of ACS6000 with green rectifier unit, each phase module is composed of
IGCT, diode and pin position capacitor, and is provided with energy by an independent gate power
supply unit GUSP.
IGCT has the characteristics of large current, high blocking voltage, high switching frequency, high
reliability, compact structure, low on-loss and so on. It also has the advantages of low cost and high
yield, so it has a good application prospect.
It has been used in power system power grid devices (100MVA) and medium power industrial 2-moti
on devices (5MWIGCT) in the field of medium voltage frequency conversion has been successfully ap
plied for 11 years (up to 2009), because the high-speed switching capability of IGCT does not need b
uffer circuits, so the number of power components required is less and the reliability of operation is gr
eatly increased. IGCT combines the high-speed switching characteristics of GBT(insulated gate bipol
ar transistor) with the high breaking voltage and low on-loss characteristics of GTO(gate off quality co
ntrol), and generally the trigger signal is transmitted to the IGCT unit through optical fibers.
