The shielding problem of 1 meter joint of eddy current sensor
Some eddy current sensors are equipped with a 1-meter connector for easy installation, as shown in the figure below. There is a metal tube about 10 cm in length and 1 cm in diameter 1 meter away from the probe in the sensor armored cable. The metal tube can be unscrewed from the middle, and it can be seen that the sensor cable is connected with a LEMO connector. The shell of the LEMO connector is the COM end of the sensor signal. Because the cable armored or metal tube may be in contact with the field conductor such as the cylinder block, if the shell of the LEMO connector is in contact with the metal tube, it may occur that the COM end of the sensor and the field conductor short-circuit, thus interfering signals, and in serious cases, even lead to protection action jump machine. Therefore, the LEMO connector must be insulated with the heat shrink sleeve (provided with the sensor) to ensure that the LEMO connector is insulated from the metal pipe and cable armor.
