The 1756-IB16 is an Allen-Bradley ControlLogix I/O module with 16 independently isolated input channels that can accept input signal voltages ranging from 10 to 30VDC, with a nominal value of 24VDC.
Such modules are commonly used to connect discrete devices such as buttons, switches, auxiliary contacts, and other devices that provide binary or switching signal states. It is a single-slot module that can be installed into any 1756 ControlLogix chassis and can be connected to any available slot except the lect most slot dedicated to the ControlLogix processor or communication adapter.
The module has an inherent signal conversion delay of up to 1 ms+ filter time hardware delay for conversion from off to on, where the user can configure the filter time, such as 0 ms, 1 ms or 2 ms. For the conversion from on to off, the signal delay consists of a maximum 4 ms filter time, with optional filter times of 0 ms, 1 ms, 2 ms, 9 ms, or 18 ms.

The current consumption of the module is 100mA at 5.1VDC and 3mA at 24VDC. The total backplane power requirement is 0.58 watts and requires a removable patch board (RTB) to be connected. The RTB acts as the endpoint of the module and can be disconnected and reconnected to any module that supports the same RTB.
The module has a nominal input voltage of 24V DC and an operating voltage range of 10 to 30V DC. The maximum power consumption at 60 degrees Celsius is 5W and the heat dissipation is 17.05 BTU/ hour. It also has a maximum surge current of 250mA peak (decaying to <37% in 22 ms). In the off state, the maximum current is 1.5mA and the maximum voltage is 5V. The current of the module in the open state ranges from 2mA at 10V DC to 10mA at 30V DC.
