Product Introduction
TM SSTTMSerial module connects Rockwell Automation rcontrollogicontrollers to Modbus network. Each module has 4 serial communication channels that act as separate Modbus master or slave protocols to exchange data with other Modbus compatible devices.
The SST module acts as the 1756 input/output module between the Modbus network and the ControlLogix backplane. Data transmission from ssST TM module to controllogix processor supports two modes; A direct mode that allows mapping of Modbus data (496 input bytes / 496 output bytes) and message mode (based on CIP transactions) in the I/0 processor image, allowing access to Modbus data stored in 32K registers in the memory of the ssT TM module.

When the user configures the storage to the USB key, the module starts. This can also be beneficial if a failure occurs, allowing very fast startup to occur with a new ssT module.
Configuration and diagnosis
Save you time, the SST module does not require any ladder logic programming to use. The configuration was created using PC-based Windows console software, connected via the RLL(Remote Link Library) feature, allowing remote access to the SST module for configuration and diagnosis via the Rockwell Network Architecture (Ethernet /ControlNet/DeviceNet TTf)
The SST console allows users to customize network parameters, Modbus devices, and loop data exchange. The console includes a user configuration manager that provides service configurations for downloading, uploading, copying, and renaming users. With it, users can quickly and easily create a new configuration to initialize and start the ssT module.
The SST console includes diagnostic tools to help debug and monitor Modbus connections. These tools allow read/write access to the Modbus slave library, or monitor and modify the module’s internal data-sharing bindings to the Modbus master library. As a result, user-friendly tools are available for communication control (PROG mode) during the debug phase. In production (RUN mo de), the same information can be obtained through the status word to enable the user to manage the execution of the control application, which is the ladder logic.
