The module has two isolated RS-232-C ports. A port can be configured as a non-isolated RS-485 port. Multifunctional processor modules use ports to communicate with computers, printers and sequential event recorders. The NIMP01 terminal module also provides the station serial connection communication link. The link allows the MFP module to communicate with the IISAC01 analog control station or the NDCS03 digital control station. Figure 1-1 shows the typical application of IMP terminal module.
The NIMP01 terminal module also works with the INIIT02 infini-net to infini-net transfer module. The INFI-NET to INFI-NET Transmission module (IIT) supports two-way communication through two RS-232-C ports. Port 1 only passes system data. Port 2 can be used to transfer system data or as an interface diagnostic port. Central IIT modules can be used for a variety of means to connect to satellite IIT modules such as modems, microwaves and transceivers. The module communicates directly with the local network interface I/O module connected to the infini-net ring through the I/O extension bus.
INFI-NET to Computer Transmission Module 2 (ICT) provides the operating computer interface for electronic devices needed to guide international networking. It handles all communication with the host computer via the Multifunctional Processor Interface (MPI) or RS-232-C serial port. The MPI interface can act as a DCE or data terminal device. The INNIS01 module is a co-working I/O module that connects to other INFI-NET communication modules. This allows a node to communicate with any other node on the Inf-Net loop. The NIS module is a slot in a separate PCB module mounting unit. The board contains microprocessor-based communication circuits that enable it to communicate with other INFI-NET interface modules. All Internet to computer interfaces require a specific one or more communication modules and NIS modules.
Two locking screws on the panel secure the INNIS01 module to the module mounting unit. There are 16 leds on the panel – signs that display error codes and event/error counts. The INNIS01 module has three card edge connectors for external signals, nal and power(connect P1, P2 and P3). Connector P1 Connector – Connects to public ground and +5 VDC power supplies. Connector P2 connects NIS modules to the I/O expander bus for communication -cate has a control module inside its node. Serial communication to other nodes is via connector P3 using a cable connected to the terminal unit or terminal module. Communication nodes are connected by coaxial or biaxial cables connecting terminal units or modules on each node.
