Overview
B&R 8MSA2S.R0-K4 is a highly integrated intelligent servo motor in the ACOPOSmotor series launched by B&R Automation. It represents the future trend of drive technology, integrating high-performance permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM), high-precision feedback systems (single-turn/multi-turn absolute encoders), and advanced servo drives (ACOPOS) all within a compact motor housing. This “all-in-one” design has completely transformed the traditional model of motor + independent driver, bringing unprecedented simplicity, high dynamic performance and outstanding control accuracy to machine manufacturers.

1. Highly integrated, saving space and cost
The motor, driver and encoder are integrated into one, eliminating the need for separate driver cabinets, power cables and feedback cables.
It greatly simplifies the electrical design and the layout inside the cabinet, reducing the wiring work by up to 50%, significantly lowering the installation cost and the space requirement for the cabinet.
2. Outstanding performance and precision
Equipped with high-performance permanent magnet synchronous motors, it offers high torque density and low inertia, achieving extremely high dynamic response and acceleration.
Integrated 24-bit high-resolution absolute encoder (supporting B&R EnDat 2.2 protocol), ensuring extremely precise position control and maintaining multi-turn position information without battery.
The built-in ACOPOS driver core supports nanometer-level precise control and real-time Ethernet POWERLINK communication, with extremely short cycle times and high synchronization.
3. Powerful Safety Integrated function:
This motor natively supports B&R’s SafeMC safety motion control function.
The safety functions such as STO (Safe Torque Disconnection), SS1 (Safe Stop 1), SS2 (Safe Stop 2), SLS (Safe Speed Limit), and SLP (Safe Limit) can be easily realized through software without the need for additional safety relays or modules, meeting the SIL 3 / PL e safety level.
4. Simplified maintenance and seamless integration
It is connected through a standard hybrid cable (power + communication + braking), with extremely simple wiring and higher reliability.
As a core component of the Bergaro Automation ecosystem (Automation Studio platform), it can be configured, programmed and diagnosed through the unified engineering software Automation Studio, achieving seamless integration from PLC to driver.
