MD Plus controllers provide communication and control in the field between devices and other nodes in the control network. Control policy and system configurations created on earlier DeltaV™ systems can be used with this powerful controller. The MD Plus controller offers all the features and functions of the M5 Plus controller with enough memory for high-volume and other memory-intensive applications. Productivity increases faster. The MD Plus controller is over 400% faster than the M5 Plus controller, and over 3 times more user configurable memory as the MD controller. Ethernet port full duplex, maximum throughput 100MB/ s. The result is lower CPU utilization and higher capacity control policies. Self-addressing. The DeltaV controller is unique in being able to automatically recognize its own Deltav control network. When the controller is powered on, assign a unique address for automatically – no dip switch, no configuration, plug and play!
Self-locating. The physical location of the controller is easy to locate with certainty. Leds on the controller’s surface can be made into flashes of light, providing a strong visual cue. Automatic I/O detection. The controller recognizes all the I/O interface channels located on the subsystem. When an I/O interface is plugged in, the controller knows the general characteristics of the field device being managed. This reduces the associated configuration of worthless projects – simple!
Total control
The controller manages the activity of all control I/O interface channels. It also manages all communication functions for communication networks. Timestamp, alert, and trend objects are also managed within the controller. The controller executes all control policies at a rate of up to 100ms.
Data protection
Each time the controller installs data in delta, the installation information is automatically saved. Similarly, when a user configures a controller online, the system stores these changes as well, and the system always maintains a complete record of all installed data on the controller and any online changes made.
Cold start
This feature ensures that in the event of a failure in the event of a power outage, the controller does not need to manually restart intervention without any other device present on the network.
