The HydranTM 201Ti is a small, easy-to-install continuous dissolved gas analysis (DGA) monitor in oil. It provides the basic information used by IEEE® Standard C57.104 and can be used as a basic first line of defense for transformers in fleets to get advance warning of fault conditions and minimize the risk of unplanned downtime.
The 201Ti’s composite gas sensor uses a fuel cell to provide the world famous “Hydran Gas Value” technology (described as Fixed Instrument. Method 3 in the standard). It is 100% responsive to hydrogen (general fault gas) and is also sensitive to carbon monoxide (overheated paper), acetylene (electric arc) and ethylene (overheated oil), thereby covering all root causes of main transformer failure. Since the monitoring unit is mounted on a single valve and uses dynamic oil sampling, there is no need for a pump or additional piping to different valves. Due to its uncomplicated nature and the easy-to-understand information it provides, the 201Ti has become one of the monitors of choice for many years, boasting one of the largest installed bases of any monitor. With the latest Mark IV version, the Hydran 201Ti monitor has been completely overhauled with a new electronic circuit board and power supply, making it RoHS compliant, addressing any obsolescence issues and further enhancing this time proven product. It now provides additional functionality
The 201Ti can be connected to an optional controller to facilitate communication with multiple units together to create a local network. The Ci-1 controller is a single-channel controller interface function (gas value display, alarm button) that replicates part of the human. It is ideal for the 201Ti to be mounted on the valve on top of the transformer. It also lowers the alarm relay contacts and analog outputs for easier wiring.
• The Ci-C controller receives gas ppm data for up to four H201Tis, providing a single point of communication for all four monitors. It has no alarm relay or analog output. This is the ideal backup when protecting 3 single phase transformers + 1.
Up to 32 controllers or 201Ti ports can be “daisy-chained” via RS-485. The maximum chain distance (all cables combined) is 1200m (4000ft). All 201Ti’s connected to any daisy-chained controller can be communicated via any controller in the local network, thus facilitating communication only by having an RS-232 modem for example.
