IS220PPRAS1B Function Description
The standard Mark VIe PPRO emergency Turbine Protection I/O package is a precursor to the PPRA. In applications where dual speed sensors on each axis are fanned out to three protective I/O packets, it requires new hardware and modified code to provide six speed inputs.
Most of the Settings, parameters, and behavior of PPRA are the same as in PPRO. The TREA terminal board with WREA optional board is the only one that supports PPRA. Other Settings supported by PPRO cannot be used with PPRA.
The PPRA also has an Ethernet connection for communication with the control module via IONet. The Mark VIe controller’s primary and standby trip prevention systems are built to work together at the trip terminal board level.
The IS220PPRAS1B turbine main I/O Assembly (PTUR) operates the main jump ram (usually TRPA) to provide primary protection when connected to the PPRA/TREA.
The TREA terminal board installed with the PPRA provides backup protection. The PPRA supports six speed signals (designated as three speed pairs) for firmware overdrive, acceleration, deceleration, and hardware-implemented overdrive protection. It pays close attention to the way the master works.
The PPRA uses a wide range of feedback signals to track the status and function of TREA jump RAMS. If a fault is found, the PPRA will trip the standby trip relay on the TREA board and initiate the trip on the main control. The PPRA is completely independent of and unaffected by the main control process.
