The IS420UCSBS1A controller was designed by General Electric as part of the Mark VIeS Control Safety System. This controller is labeled as a Mark VIeS Safety Controller and has specific locations where it can be mounted; the standard mounting location for this controller is panel sheet mounting. This controller can be mounted in class one, zone two, group IIC with a UL E207685 certification; this is not the only location for this controller, and all other locations and certifications can be found in the GEH-6725 Mark VIe and Mark VIeS Controls Equipment HazLoc manual on page 112.
The IS420UCSBS1A controller is similar to the UCSC controller and has some of the same features and functions; some features that are available on the UCSB controller are no required jumper settings, flash memory that can be updated at the user’s convenience, and no fan. This controller has the ability to communicate with I/O modules through onboard input-output networks.
Before configuring the IS420UCSBS1A controller ensure that the controller has been properly added to the system with the correct redundancy, that the control system network cabling and hardware have been connected properly, and that all of the equipment in the system has been powered on successfully. While this controller is similar to the UCSC controller it is also identical to the IS420UCSBS1ABB controller in fit, form, and function.
