Description

The General Electric Multilin Motor Manager is a series of control modules that combine several functions for controlling motor capabilities and providing motor protection. This product was initially developed and produced by General Electric’s industrial automation branch. The Motor Manager II (also known as MM2) is a device that was designed to provide the most sophisticated control and protection for the lowest possible price when compared to other brands and models of discrete motor controllers.

This model of the Motor Manager II series, the MMII-PD-1-2-240, is built to cover a large array of functions that low voltage motor controls are meant to handle, such as handling any possible overloads, unbalanced phases, possible contractor failings, and rotor is locking and/or stalling. There is also a hot winding thermistor module integrated into this model. If the relay detects that the amount of power is under the nominal intake required, the undervoltage auto restart kicks in. These features protect the motor system and extend system life.

The MMII-PD-1-2-240 unit’s physical frame is outfitted with a set of 4 output ports and 16 input ports. The output ports are designated as a pair of contractor outputs and a pair of programmable outputs. For input ports, there are 6 fixed inputs and 10 programmable inputs.

For informational reports, this unit is outfitted with an analog interface that displays the phase current, the ground current, the thermal capacity analog input, and the power and energy levels. This model makes sure to record trips and to record the corresponding pre-trip values for comparison.

MMII-PD-1-2-240

The unit can be integrated with an RS485 ModBus Plus module at 1200 to 19200 bits per second (bps).
What does the “PD” refer to in the product description of the MMII-PD-1-2-240? How does it differ from other models?

The “PD” in the model number indicates that the unit offers a panel mount with display. The display is a two line, forty character liquid-crystal display that can be used in tandem with the keypad to manually navigate system settings, parameters, the event log, and more. Options with a “C” instead of “PD” do not offer a liquid-crystal display at all, instead requiring users to use the EnerVista MMII software in order to finetune the device.
What are the option packages for the MMII-PD-1-2-240? Are they contained in this model?

Both option packages are contained in this version of the part, which is indicated by the “1” and “2” in the model number; these would be replaced by zeroes in versions of the part without these options. Option 1 includes 10 programmable switch inputs, a 4 to 20 mA input, and 2 additional electromechanical relays. It also includes undervoltage restart options and advanced diagnostics. Option 2 provides the relays with timers, contactor A and B relays, and 2 switch inputs. It also provides enhanced protection, a VT inputs for calculation of kW and kWhrs, and a thermistor input.
