The Multilin series of motor control center units was originally developed by the automation division of GE. The modules in this series are each designed to cover numerous functions in regards to protecting and controlling motors.
The functions that the MMII-PD-MOD501-120 cover range from protecting motors from any possible overloading or phases becoming unbalanced. In the event of contactors or rotors failing or becoming stalled, then the module is capable of overriding and managing the issues itself.
This unit is also outfitted with an array of useful internal hardware, such as a hot winding thermistor circuit, which reacts with an electrical charge in the event of a temperature change. There is also an undervoltage auto restart unit in case the intake dips to lower than the minimum level needed (120 volts of alternating current).
Externally, this unit is equipped with a large number of input and output ports. There’s 20 I/O ports integrated into it. 4 of them are outputs, 2 contractor outputs, and then 2 programmable outputs. The other 16 ports are input ports. 6 are fixed inputs, and then 10 are programmable.
The monitor display is capable of showing the phase current, ground current, thermal capacity and analog input on the monitor. It also records both trip and pre-trip values for proper evaluation.
