489-P5-LO-A20-E is an Agdo line relay in the GE SR family of relays (in the same family as GE Multiline 469 motor protection relays and GE Multiline 735 feeder protection relays). 489-P5-LO-A20-E is designed for generator protection and can be used in induction or synchronous generators. The device can operate at 25, 50 or 60 Hz.

489-P5-LO-A20-E is designed with a 40-character display that allows users to view numerical information, diagnostics, and set values. The front panel includes the numeric keypad, status indicator, numerical up and down keys, RS232 port interface, and control and programming keys including reset, Input, Menu, Menu Up, and menu Down keys. This allows control without connecting to an external computer.

The backplane consists of 12 RTD inputs, six output relays, two RS485 communication ports, and four VT inputs. RTD can be field programmed. Communication ports can use ModbusRTU or DNP 3.0 protocols up to 19200 bps (or both).

The 489-P5-LO-A20-E backplane also includes four isolated 4-20 mA analog inputs and outputs and seven assignable digital inputs. There are seven CT inputs for three-phase output/three-phase neutral line and ground current detection, as well as a separate safety and filter grounding. All inputs on 489-P5-LO-A20-E meet the anti-interference of SWC, C37.990 EMI and RFI.
