Technical requirement
The PROM modules are installed in connectors on the GE Genius adapter board WES5123-1200 , and because they are detachable, replacing the board is made easier because you do not need to reconfigure the replacement board. All you need to do is move the PROM module from the old board to the replacement board.
However, PROM modules are sensitive to electrostatic buildup, which can damage the module and erase the information on the module. The wrist strap protects the PROM module from static buildup because it provides a grounding path for the static electricity, which is provided by the unpainted metal surface attached to the wrist strap. Always wear a wrist strap when handling GE Genius adapter board WES5123-1200 .
The board is 6 inches long and 1.25 inches high, with one hole at each of the four corners. When you replace the old board, note where the old board is connected in the drive rack and plan to connect the replacement board to the same location. Unscrew the old plate with two hands. Use one hand to guide the end of the screwdriver to the first screw. Turn the screwdriver with your other hand. Retain all washers and screws used to secure the old plate and use them to attach the replacement plate.
