Peer network control board Configures and controls the network for data transmission between peer I/O boards. The board must be defined before the I/O board.
There are eight different peer I/O boards (input and output, digital and analog, 16 and 128 channels). Each input board has an output board with the same type and number of channels. In order for the I/O boards to communicate with each other, they must share the same network, peer, and data identity. The combination of these three identities should be considered a global data identifier that must be uniquely defined for each I/O board pair throughout the peer network.
Think of it as routing multi-core cables between systems. Each multi-core cable is placed in a tray (network). Different multi-core cables (subnets) can be routed in a single tray. Each controller on the network has a unique identifier (peer ID). The wires at each end must be matched to similar devices (analog/digital) with the same number of channels (16 or 128).
