The cRIO-9040 (Part number: 785624-01) is a rugged CompactRIO Controller by National Instruments. The Controller is supported to the NI-DAQmx and LabVIEW FPGA. It is featured with Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) support. This feature assists in distributed adjustments and deterministic communications. The network synchronization precision is <1 μs. The NI cRIO-9040 is structured with a Kintex-7 70T FPGA, which provides support for advanced co-processing and control. The cRIO 9040 is equipped with a 1.30 GHz dual core processor. This model has a NI Linux Real-Time (64-bit) operating system. The Controller has 2 Ethernet ports which meet the IEEE 802.3 standards. They have a communication rate from 10 Mb/s up to 1000 Mb/s auto-negotiated. The ports can operate at the cabling distance of 100 m/segment.
The NI cRIO-9040 has 3 USB ports. The first port is type A. It is the host port with a Hi-Speed of 2.0 and maximum data transfer rate of 480 Mb/s. The maximum current usage is 900 mA. The second port is also a host port, but it is type C. It is a 3.1 Generation 1, super speed port. This port can be used as a display port. It offers the maximum resolution of 3840 × 2160 at 60 Hz and the transfer speed of 5 Gb/s. The third port is type C and featured with dual roles. The third port can perform as a device and host port. It is also a 3.1 Generation 1, super speed port with the transfer speed of 5 Gb/s.
