The National Instruments PXIe-8861 is a microprocessor based embedded Controller designed for

PXI Express systems. This model features an Intel Xeon 4‑Core processer. For a flexible and advanced

level connectivity, the NI PXIe-8861 comes equipped with two USB 3.0 ports, two Gigabit Ethernet Ports

(10/100/1000BASE‑TX compatible), four USB 2.0 ports, two Thunderbolt™ 3 ports, one serial

port, and other types of peripheral I/O.

The processer equipped in this PXI Controller is a Quad-Core 2.8 GHz processer. This model is an

ideal choice for various applications, including data acquisition and RF modular instrumentation. The

National Instruments PXIe-8861 is a high bandwidth system controller that can easily be

combined with any compatible PXI Express chassis like the NI PXIe-1085.

This PXI Controller comes with user accessible RAM, enabling the user to upgrade the amount of

factory installed RAM. Moreover, users can also replace the preinstalled operating system through

a USB CD-ROM or DVD-ROM. Apart from offering high processing power, this Controller offers

high I/O throughput, coupled with up to 24 GB of RAM and a comprehensive set of peripheral I/O ports.

The front panel of the National Instruments PXIe-8861 contains a Display Port v1.2.  The highest

performance of this PXI Embedded Controller makes it an ideal solution for PXI-based control,

measurement, and test systems. The integrated, differential system 100 MHz reference clock provided

in this Controller offers seamless synchronization of multiple modules. Moreover, three differential

star trigger busses are also provided for the distribution of precise trigger and clock signals. Thus, the

demanding synchronization and timing requirements of logging and instrumentation systems

are curtailed by the integrated features of the NI PXIe-8861.
