The AL81G is popular for high-speed scanning using high-frequency ultrasonic signals. It is most commonly used to digitize signals from a UT340 or other high frequency pulse receivers.
It features single-channel digitization with 8-bit resolution and a sampling frequency up to 1 GHz. This provides a useful dynamic range of about 40 dB and is suitable for digitizing RF signals up to a center frequency of about 200 MHz. The AL81G has one input, either a quadrature encoder or a step and direction signal. This feature allows the digitizer to keep up with the movement of high-speed scanning systems.
