Description

Digital cylinder is a linear hydraulic amplifier with integrated mechanical feedback. In this compact assembly, electrical displacement sensors and feedback adjustments are replaced by stable, reliable and environmentally resilient mechanical copy (ball) screws.

Working principle of digital cylinder:

The electronic stepper motor or servo motor 1 drives the spool 2 to rotate in the nut sleeve 3, and the thread makes the spool move axially to open the valve port. According to the rotation direction of the motor, the pressure oil enters the front or rear chamber of the hydraulic cylinder from P, and the piston rod 5 extends or retracts. At this time, the imitation nut 4 fixed with the piston rod is driven together, and the imitation screw 6 meshing with it is rotated, resulting in the nut sleeve 3 connected on its left side rotating, and the valve core 2 meshing with it moves back axially until the open valve port is closed, and the hydraulic cylinder stops moving immediately to complete the linear movement of the hydraulic cylinder to track the motor Angle, and the torque is amplified in the process. This is a servo system with mechanical feedback (servo system).

According to the design, the copying screw 6 can be used with different lead, the larger the lead, the faster the hydraulic cylinder can be moved within a certain precision range (several hundred ~ thousand mm/s). When the copying screw uses a small lead, the motion speed of the hydraulic cylinder will be reduced, but the position accuracy will be very high (micron/step). In a word, the motor will open the valve port for a small displacement (for example: 5 microns), and the high pressure oil will push the piston to move the corresponding distance and close the valve port at the same time, and the piston will stop. If this process is circulated 1000 times, the hydraulic cylinder piston can move 5mm. If it is circulated 1000 times in 1 second, then the hydraulic cylinder will achieve a speed of 5mm/second. This principle is also often encountered in our daily life, such as the steering hydraulic assist device in the car.
