Overspeed detection mechanism:
8237-1246 Overspeed detection system device is a high-performance overspeed detection device, which can accurately detect the overspeed state of the equipment, and send corresponding signals or commands to ensure the safe operation of the equipment.
Microprocessor detection:
The speed sensor input in each module uses a special MPU (microprocessor) open-wire detection circuit to verify that the MPU is properly connected before the turbine runs.
Special speed loss detection logic is used to verify MPU function during turbine operation.
Automatic overspeed test program:
Optionally, the system can be configured to perform periodic overspeed tests on each module and record and report the test results.
In the test program, each module uses an internal frequency generator to simulate the overspeed situation and thus complete its test sequence.
Resistance to sulfur pollution:
The system uses a special conformal coating material, which has good long-term protection against H2S and sulfur dioxide gases in the international standard IEC 721-3-3 1994 environmental class 3C2.

Model 8237-1246 is part of the Woodward ProTech-GII Series. It is an over-speed detection system that configures to work with multiple types of turbines. It can safely shut down hydro, steam, and gas turbines if it senses they are overaccelerating. In addition to acceleration detection, it also has MPU detection.
