Product 9905-753 is a digital overspeed protection device. This is a power off trip device with three nearly identical speed sensing units that monitor the prime mover speed and activate the trip relay if overspeed is detected. The only difference between these units is that two of them have a 120 Vac/dc voltage input and the third has a 220 Vac voltage input. Each unit has its own power supply and the system can be configured to be compatible with a variety of power supplies.

The modular design of the system allows a number of features to prevent overall system failure or system downtime. The 9905-753 system has a three-choice two-vote configuration based on three independent speed calculations. When the prime mover is online, the built-in frequency generator can test one speed sensing unit at a time. If any of the three units trip, the other two will remain in normal operation. This also means that individual units can be replaced without interrupting operations

The key switch is used to switch between monitor and program modes. The 9905-753 system will operate in either of these modes, but should remain in monitor mode unless the device is actually being programmed. The adjustable parameters are :MPU fault timeout, MPU gear number, MPU fault set value, trip speed set value and MPU fault trip.
