The three units are in a two-out-of-three voting configuration, in which the hardware votes after three independent speed calculations are performed. The 9905-756 system starts its relay output according to the hardware vote. It is worth noting that since this is a power-on trip mode in the ProTech 203, the plug-in relay will not start if the system loses input power.
The 9905-756 system encapsulates all three units in a locked housing that restricts access to program patterns by using key switches to prevent unauthorized changes or testing. LED indicators on the front panel (one for each speed sensing device) provide a quick way to catch when things aren’t working properly, such as an MPU failing, a unit’s CPU failing, or a unit tripping. There are separate leds to indicate separate problems, and each speed sensing unit has its own set of leds. Certain functional errors may also be set to trigger alarm output when certain conditions are detected.
Before installing a 9905-756 overspeed protection system, consult Woodward ProTech 203 Manual 85196 to ensure that all safety precautions are followed and to prevent accidental hardware damage. Other product specifications can also be found in this manual.
8237-1247 monitors turbine rotor speed and acceleration through active or passive microprocessors and issues closing commands to the turbine’s gate jump valve or corresponding trip system.
Woodward’s 8237-1367 is designed to be used as an overspeed device for steam, gas, water turbines, reciprocating engines, or plant process equipment of any size.
8237-1368 Woodward ProTech-GII Overdrive protection’s 8237-1368 uses discrete inputs (3 / module, 9 in total): alarm/trip reset command, start command, and speed failure override command
8237-1369 provides a variety of predefined test programs, including automated periodic test programs, to help users verify system operation.
8237-1370 ProTech-GII 8237-1370 Panel mount includes overspeed and overacceleration features, as well as time-stamped alarms and trip logs.
8237-1594 uses a three-mode redundant structure and three-take two voting logic to accurately determine unsafe conditions and single points of failure.
8237-1595 Allows for detection, notification of failures in overdrive system components, and for repair or replacement while the monitoring system continues to operate online.
Woodward’s ProTech-GII 8237-1596 consists of three separate modules with a trip output of either a separate output or a three-for-two configuration.
The ProTech-GII dividers installed on 8237-1597 are designed for overdrive in steam, gas, water turbines, reciprocating engines, or plant process equipment of any size.
