With the 9905-871, operators can ensure they are protected from speeding situations. Even if one of the three identical speed sensing units is offline, the system’s two out of three voting configuration will still provide accurate output. These hardware votes are achieved by each unit performing its own speed calculations while monitoring the prime mover speed via its own magnetic sensor (MPU). The trip relay is activated when overspeed is detected.

When an overspeed condition occurs, if the current speed is greater than the previous peak speed, the new peak speed is updated and stored in non-volatile memory. The peak speed and current speed of any individual speed sensing device can be seen on the device’s operator interface LCD.

In addition to the LCD, the operating interface of each unit in the 9905-871 has a touchpad and several leds. These indicators indicate the functional status of the hardware and system within the corresponding unit.
