Overspeed protection device Type 9905-873 is power trip type. Like the other models, the ProTech203 overdrive Protection System series, the prime mover speed is monitored and calculated by three independent speed sensing units. These devices are contained in the same keystroke locking housing, conforming to NEMA4 and IP 65 standards.
There are several advantages to using this modular design for overspeed protection systems. The three-for-two voting configuration of the three cells ensures accurate output even if one of the three cells is offline. Thus, any single speed sensing unit in the 9905-873 system can be tested or even replaced without having to take the prime mover offline.
The three speed sensing units in the 9905-873 have almost identical overdrive protection systems. They all interface with their own magnetic sensors (MPUs), perform their own speed calculations, have their own operating interfaces, and have their own power supply. The only difference between the devices is that in the 9905-873 model, devices A and B each have a 24 Vdc power supply, while the power supply for Device C is 220 Vac.
