The 9905-879, hot change function and built-in self-test function provide continuous, reliable overspeed protection from this injury ProTech203 model. The prime mover stays online as long as two of the three 9905-879 speed sensing units are running. Both cells will still provide accurate output.
This output is the result of a two-out-of-three vote based on the calculations of each of the three cells, each with its own magnetic pickup (MPU). If the following occurs, the trip relay will be activated and overspeed conditions are detected. A single tripping unit will not inadvertently cause the turbine to trip.
