The 9907-167 units are part of the Woodward 505E series of digital control units. These devices are part of the 505E series manufactured by Woodward. It is one of the oldest independent manufacturers of turbine control systems in the United States. The 505E series is designed for equipment such as industrial-scale steam turbines, small unit turbine-generators, or utility turbine expander models. Line 505E is designed as a single extraction and/or steam turbine entry. It drives the inlet steam valve through a pair of actuators to make the steam turbine run.
The unit is numbered 9907-167. It is equipped with a 32-bit microprocessor to control the turbine. The physical body of the unit 9907-167 consists of a series of printed circuit board units, housed in a housing that can be safely installed within the control panel system.
Models 9907-167 can be equipped with NEMA Class 4X protective housing. This casing is optional, however, it is effective in protecting the electromechanical parts from any permanent damage or any invasive particles. The housing is watertight and dust resistant and is suitable for indoor and outdoor conditions. The ambient temperature range of 9907-167, without a protective frame, is -25 to 65 ° C, but connected to the frame, it can only withstand up to 55 ° C.
