The UPC090AE01 is the control core of the UNITROL® 1000 system and is a highly integrated digital regulator board card. It is responsible for all control logic, computing, communication and protection functions.

1. High-performance digital control
It adopts a powerful microprocessor and runs advanced regulation algorithms to achieve rapid and precise closed-loop control of excitation current.

It supports multiple automatic control modes (automatic voltage regulation AVR, reactive power regulation, power factor regulation) and manual control modes (magnetic field current regulation FCR), and also supports disturbance-free switching.

2. Comprehensive protection and diagnosis:
It is equipped with comprehensive built-in protection functions, including overflux (V/Hz) protection, excitation overcurrent protection, underexcitation limit, overexcitation limit, and voltage transformer (VT) disconnection detection, effectively ensuring the safety of the generator and the excitation system itself.

It is equipped with comprehensive self-diagnostic functions and an event logger, capable of storing up to 100 events, facilitating rapid identification of the root cause of faults and reducing downtime.

3. Strong communication and integration capabilities:
It provides a standard RS-485 serial communication interface and supports the Modbus RTU protocol.

It can be easily integrated with the DCS, SCADA systems or PLCS of power plants/factories to achieve remote monitoring, set value adjustment and data collection.

4. User-friendliness
Parameter setting, debugging and real-time data monitoring can be conveniently carried out through a handheld programmer (HHP) or PC software such as DTB200.

2. Strong Power Core: HIEE300661R0001 Power Supply/Power module

HIEE300661R0001 is a three-phase thyristor rectifier bridge power module. It converts the AC power supply from the excitation transformer into a controlled DC power supply based on the trigger pulse signal sent by the UPC090AE01 control board, providing the required excitation current for the rotor excitation winding of the synchronous motor.

Core functions and highlights

1. High-efficiency rectification and powerful output
It is equipped with a high-power thyristor (controlled rectifier), which has an extremely high current handling capacity and can provide stable and reliable DC excitation power for large generators.

2. High integration and strong reliability:
The module integrates key components such as thyristors, resistance-capacitance absorption circuits (SNUBbers), and pulse transformers, reducing external wiring and enhancing the overall reliability and anti-interference performance of the system.

It adopts crimping connection, featuring low contact resistance, high reliability, and is easy to install and maintain.

3. Perfect protection mechanism
The module itself is designed to help suppress commutation overvoltage and protect the core components.

When used in conjunction with system-level fuses, overvoltage protection devices, etc., it jointly forms a powerful power-level protection.

System collaborative workflow

Signal acquisition: The UPC090AE01 control unit continuously monitors the generator’s terminal voltage, stator current, power factor and other operating parameters.
2. Intelligent computing: The control unit compares the monitored value with the set value, calculates the required excitation current through an internal algorithm, and generates the corresponding trigger pulse signal.
3. Power execution: The trigger pulse signal is sent to the HIEE300661R0001 power module to control the conduction Angle of the thyristor inside it.
4. Energy conversion: The power module converts alternating current into precisely controlled direct current and supplies it to the rotor windings of the generator to generate a magnetic field.
5. Real-time regulation: The entire process forms a closed-loop control to ensure that the generator’s output voltage remains stable at the set value or precisely outputs reactive power according to the grid’s demand.
