Description
The excitation power of traction generator in electric diesel locomotive is large, and the excitation power supply specially set for providing excitation current is called excitation generator, referred to as exciter. The ideal external characteristics of traction generator are realized by controlling exciter. Generally, three-phase alternator is used, which is directly driven by a diesel engine and traction generator set through the gearbox. The three-phase alternating current issued by the bridge rectifier is rectified and then supplied to the excitation winding of the traction generator.
