IS420UCSBS1A features

IS420UCSBS1A is a security controller used for Mark VIeS. It is certified for use in hazardous environments, although such use may require special and unusual installation requirements.
The module is powered by an Intel EP80579 600 MHz CPU.
The nominal power supply voltage of the controller is 28.0 VDC (minimum 27.4 VDC, maximum 28.6 VDC). It can withstand ambient temperatures of -30 to +65 degrees Celsius.
This module is usually used for functional safety loops. These are designed to meet SIL2 and SIL3 requirements. Controllers such as IS420UCSBS1A are built with control hardware and software that meet IEC 61508 certification and use safety-oriented programming.
The QNX Neutrino operating system is the real-time multitasking operating system for the UCSB controller. IS420UCSBS1A is a standalone computer module. Unlike standard controllers, there is no backplane. The device is self-contained and has its own power supply. There are no batteries and no jumper Settings required.
UCSB controllers are stand-alone computers that run application code. The controller is installed on the panel and communicates with I/O packets through an onboard I/O network (IONet) interface. IONet is a dedicated Ethernet that supports only Mark controls I/O modules and controllers. The controller operating system (OS) is QNX Neutrino, a real-time multitasking operating system designed for high-speed, highly reliable industrial applications.
Unlike traditional controllers, where I/O is located on the backplane, UCSB controllers do not host any application inputs that are lost when the controller is out of power for maintenance or repair. Mark VIeS UCSBS1A Safety controllers and Safety I/O modules are used for functional safety loops to achieve SIL 2 and 3 functions.
Mark VIeS safety equipment is used by operators familiar with safety instrumentation system (SIS) applications to reduce the risk of critical safety features. Security controllers and distributed I/O modules are programmed specifically for security control purposes.
