The UNITROL 1000 series is deployed in more than 20,000 projects in various types of industries such as power plants, electric propulsion and auxiliary power supplies for ships, diesel-electric locomotives, port cranes and heavy-duty vehicles in mining areas.

ABB’s excitation systems combine automation, electrical systems, rotary motor control, instrumentation and advanced digital equipment to form a complete and reliable product for a wide range of power generation equipment.


The Modicon channel analog output module is designed to control adjustable frequency drivers, positioning valves, dampers, etc. Each channel can be configured independently to provide voltage or current loop output. In order to function properly, the module requires a power supply from an external power supply (250mA@24VDC). When the external power supply is not used, the module takes power from the internal bus and gives an incorrect reading. Do not leave this module unpowered in the rack. The module has an open current loop (line break) detection function and alerts via leds and accessible registers. It can be configured to hold the last value when communication with the CPU is lost for more than 1 second, and the CPU is stopped or powered off. There is an amber LED on the front of the module that blinks to indicate module failure. The green LED at the top of the front of the module indicates that the module is ready. As data is sent through the channels, the green leds on each channel will remain lit or flash rapidly. A red LED on each channel in current mode indicates the detection of an open current loop (broken line) or a high loop impedance (500Q). High integrity analog input modules are designed for single and redundant configurations.
