Technical Description 1746-IB16：

Allen-Bradley 1746-IB16 is a medium-density DC input module designed to connect signal devices, providing a signal voltage range of 10-30VDC to each input channel of the module. The module has sixteen (16) input channels with a rated input voltage of 24VDC, comprising one (1) input group, with a common terminal. The input module is installed in any available I/O slot in the Model 1746 chassis and consumes 0.05 A baseboard current at 5v DC.

The 1746-IB16 supports only sinking cable configuration. It can be used to connect electrical components, such as switches, including limit, proximity, push button devices and auxiliary contacts for relays, contactors and other electronic devices. Each input channel of the 1746-IB16 has a public signal delay duration of 8 ms at on and off transitions, a maximum off state voltage of 5VDC and a maximum off state current of 1 mA, while the module’s nominal input current is 8 mA @ 24VDC.

1746-IB16 The number of installed instances varies with the SLC500 CPU installed. Specifically, it depends on the amount of I/O supported by the CPU memory. The module can also be installed locally, along the rack that houses the SLC 500 CPU, or in the distributed I/O case, along the 1746 communication adapter, such as the Remote I/O (RIO) and Ethernet adapter modules. The module comes with a status LED indicator that provides an indication of the startup of each input channel to simplify monitoring and troubleshooting. It also has a detachable terminal board for easy docking and module replacement.

The 1746-IB16 has a maximum signal delay of 8ms for both on and off transitions, while the module has a maximum voltage drop of 5V DC in the off state. It has a maximum leakage current of 1mA and a nominal input current of 8mA for the entire module at 24V DC.

The 1746-IB16 has a net heat loss of 0.22 watts per input point and a total heat loss of 3.6 watts for the entire module. It operates in a temperature range of 0 to 60°C(32 to 140°F) in environments with relative humidity of 5-95% and should be stored in a temperature range of -40 to 85°C(-40 to 185°F) when not in use. The 1746-IB16 has been tested with an operating shock rating of 30G and is designed to withstand operating vibration of 2.5G at an operating frequency of 57-200 Hz. It has NEMA standard ICS 2-230 immunity rating and UL-A196, CSA and C-UL Level 1, Zone 2 hazardous environment rating. It provides 1500V test electro-optic isolation between input terminals and control logic and is UL, CSA, and CE certified.
