1756-CN2R Allen-Bradley ControlLogix Controller platform communication module
Allen-Bradley 1756-CN2R is a ControlLogix communication module that is part of the Logix controller platform. This module is mainly used to establish connections in the redundant control network topology, as it has two (2) BNC control network ports. The module occupies a chassis slot and can be installed into any available slot in a standard chassis, such as 1756-A4, 1756-A7, 1756-A10, 1756-A13, 1756-A17, and is used with the standard ControlLogix power supply, In particular, the 1756-PA72/C, 1756-PA75/B, 1756-PB72/C, 1756-PB75/B, 1756-PC75/BControlNet network is a multi-node communication network that uses coaxial cable trunk lines and nodes are connected on the trunk lines using branch cables. This particular module is connected to the network using 1786-RG6 quad shielded RG6 coaxial cable. The 1756-CN2R supports transmission speeds of up to 5 Mbps. In addition to the dual ControlNet ports, the 1756-CN2R also comes with one (1) USB port that supports a full 12 Mbps transfer rate. It cannot be used for data communication purposes. The module is suitable for implementing distributed I/O topologies because it can cover each segment of 1000 m and can be easily extended by using Repeaters as signal enhancers for controlling network segments above 1000 m. It can also communicate with human-machine interface (HMI) devices and supervisory control and Data acquisition (SCADA) systems. It supports up to 128 Logix connections and 131 communication connections.
