The Allen-Bradley 1756-CNB or Control Network Bridge module is an interface module used to connect the ControlLogix rack to the control network network. Compared to the Allen-Bradley 1756-CNBR module, the 1756-CNB is used in a standard non-redundant configuration. If each communication module of a user application has 40 to 48 Logix communication connections, then this module is perfect. It has a communication rate of 5 megabytes per second and has 99 nodes available. The 1756CNB module supports a maximum of 64 two-way connections with other ControlNet devices. It can be a mix of planned and unplanned connections. However, the number of connections supported also depends on the network configuration. If the application needs more connections, users can add another 1756CNB module, but they must make sure to add it in the same chassis and network as the first module. It can also support up to 20 buffers for unconnected messages. It also has two ports — a control network BNC port and a control network R/45 port. Before installing the 1756-CNB module, you need to set the node address switch of the module. They can choose a unique node address from 01 to 99. The user can then use the module as a separate control module by using a set of modules, or as a redundant control setting by using the same module pair (partner). Note that when using redundancy control, the node address switch should have the same node address. The current consumption of 1756 CNB is 970 mah at 5.1 V DC and 1.7 mah if the current consumption is 24 V DC. It has a power consumption rating of 5.14 watts.
The 1756-CNB is a ControlLogix communications adapter used to connect any ControlLogix rack to the ControlNet data highway. The module is a single slot module with one (1) BNC connector for non-redundant media operations and one (1) integrated communication port for NAP(RJ-458 pin with shield).
This ControlNet bridge is compatible with the ControlNet modules of the Allen-Bradley platform, such as the Flex lO system, POINT IO, SLC and PLC5 ControlNet, ControlNet interface card, including the partner module.
