Allen-Bradley 1756-IF16h is an analog input module for the 1756 ControlLogix Programmable Logic Controller Automation (PAC). It supports the integration of 0-20 mA or 4-20 mA input signals through hardwired and high-speed addressable Remote Sensor (HART) communication protocols. The module provides sixteen (16) differential current signals and one (1) HART modem per channel.

The 1756-IF16H incorporates an analog to digital converter (ADC) using successive approximation. The analog conversion has a resolution range of 16-21 bits, allowing more measurement points to be displayed. The converted signal is stored in integer mode (left-justified, 2 s complement) as an IEEE 32-bit floating-point number.

Allen-Bradley recommends using a single wire connection when terminating the 1756-IF16H signal. Linear diameter is 0.33… 2.1 mm2 (22… 14 AWG) solid or stranded shielded copper wire with an insulation rating of 105°C(221°F) or higher and a maximum insulation thickness of 1.2 mm (3/64 in.) 1756-IF16H allows you to choose which of three data formats to use: analog only, Analog and HART PV, and analog and HART by channel. Analog only format has only analog signal values and analog states. Analog and HART PV are recommended when you want the members of the tag to be arranged like non-HART analog input modules.
