Technical Description 1756-L1:

The Allen Bradley 1756-L1 is the ControlLogix 5550 controller. It can support up to 250 connections and weighs 0.28kg or 10.0oz. This particular controller has 64 kilobytes of user memory. Mount 1756-1 is installed directly into any available slot in the chassis, and multiple controllers can be installed into any other slot in the same chassis. These controllers, which belong to the same chassis, can communicate with each other through the backplane or operate independently. The 1756-L1 is capable of communicating over DeviceNet, RS-232-C(DF1/DH-485 protocol), ControlNet, DH+, and Ethernet /IP networks. Notice that it has no nonvolatile memory.
The peak floor current of the 1756-11 is 0.65 amps at 5 volt DC and 0.02 amps at 24 volt DC. It has an average power consumption of 3.3 watts and an average heat dissipation of 11.3 BTU/ hour. The 1756L1 is stored at -40 to 85 degrees Celsius, while its operating temperature range is 0 to 60 degrees Celsius. It also has a non-condensing relative humidity of 5 to 95 percent. The 1756-L1 has a memory shock of 50 grams peaking for 11 milliseconds, while its operational shock is 30 grams peaking for 11 milliseconds. It also has a vibration of 10 to 500 Hz and a maximum peak acceleration of 2.0 g. If the 1756-L1 needs a replacement battery, you can only use 0.59g hammer battery 1756-BA1. Programming cables compatible with 1756-L1 are Class 3 serial cables 1756-CP3 and 1747-CP3.
The Allen-Bradley 1756-L1 is a programmable Automation controller (PAC) for the B-manager module, housed in the Controllogix product family. This processor belongs to one of the earlier versions of ControlLogix, the Logix 5550 category.
The module features an integrated RS232 communication port and 64KB user memory. It also has a diagnostic front panel that reports the status of the module via embedded LED lights. A backup battery with integrated random access memory (RAM) is provided, but non-volatile memory is not installed in the processor. To install non-volatile memory for this controller, the appropriate memory module is 1756-M1, 1756-M2 and 1756-M3 are the only compatible modules. Do not use other memory modules, as this will cause the module to fail.
This module is installed in any ControlLogix case, such as 1756-A4, 1756-A7, 1756-A10, 1756-A13, and 1756-A17. It occupies a single slot in the chassis, and the module power is supplied by the backplane, which is powered by the ControlLogix power supply.
The controller is capable of controlling medium scale processes. It supports programming language standards defined by IEC-61131-2, such as ladder diagram, function block, sequential function diagram, statement table programming language.
The integrated RS232 provides interfaces for programming devices, human-machine interface (HMI), monitoring and data acquisition (SCADA), and other visualization and control systems. It also supports independent and distributed l/O distribution through the use of Controllogix /O, Flex I/O, and POINT l/O modules.
