1762-IF4 Allen-Bradley Analog input component

The 1762-IF4 is the Allen-Bradley MicroLogix 1200 with a 4-channel current/voltage analog input module. It has a Delta-Sharma converter and 4 differential (bipolar) inputs. Its analog operating voltage ranges are -10 to 10 volts DC standard voltage and -10.5 to 10.5 volts DC full scale voltage. Its simulated operating current ranges from 4 to 20 mA normally and from -21 to 21 mA at full scale. This module enhances the functionality of MicroLogix by allowing additional I/O operations on the system. It requires minimal spacing and can be mounted on a DIN rail or panel. The module communicates through the 1762 bus interface and receives information from 5 to 24 volt DC power supplies.

There is a finger safety cover for wiring the input terminal board. Flat ribbon cables are used to connect various I/O modules. The 1762-IF4 module supports 2-, 3 -, or 4-wire transmitter configurations. Users should always stay away from the device during troubleshooting and always check it for any program changes. The safety circuit should always be in series with the main relay.

The 1762-IF4 module shall be installed in a hazardous, dry and clean environment with circuits that do not exceed overvoltage Class II standards. To avoid damage to the module, avoid electrostatic discharge and cut off the power supply. The on-site upgradeable flash operating system helps ensure that users always get the latest features without having to replace any hardware. Using rackless I/O modules can increase the number of I/ OS. This results in larger control systems, greater application flexibility, and scalability at lower cost and reduced parts inventory.

The module has four (4) input channels, each of which can be configured to receive current and voltage signals in the range -21 to 21 mA and -10 to +10VDC, respectively.

The input signal type is selected by providing a DIP switch. The received voltage signal passes through an analog-to-digital (ADC) converter to convert the analog data into a binary code stored in the analog input register. The converted data can be formatted as raw/scale and PID scale.

If used with the MicroLogix 1100, up to four (4) extension modules are allowed, possibly 1764-IF4. If the MicroLogix 1200 is installed, six (6) expansion modules can be connected and seven (7) modules can be connected to the MicroLogix 1400.

Expansion modules (such as the 1764-IF4) are connected to the MicroLogix bus via a supplied ribbon cable connected via a pin contact mounted on the front panel of each module. Installation of the module follows the MicroLogix base module installation methods, specifically DIN rail or direct panel mounting.

The module measures 90 mm (H)x 87 mm (D)x 40 mm (W) and has a height of 110 mm 3.54 inches including mounting lugs.
