3500/15 106M1081-01  AC and DC Power Supplies

The 3500/15 AC and DC Power Supplies are half-height modules and must be installed in designated slots on the left
side of the rack. The 3500 rack can contain one or two power supplies with any combinations of AC and DC. Either supply
can power a full rack.
When two power supplies are installed in a rack, the one in the lower slot acts as the primary supply, and the other in the
upper slot acts as the backup supply. If installed, the second supply is the backup for the primary one.
Removing or inserting either power supply module does not disrupt operation of the rack as long as a second power
supply is installed.
The 3500/15 AC and DC Power Supplies accepts a wide range of input voltages and converts them to voltages acceptable
for use by other 3500 modules. The following power supplies are available with the 3500 Series Machinery Protection
System:

From 175 to 264 Vac RMS: (247 to 373 Vac, pk), 47 to 63 Hz. This option uses AC power and is a high voltage

(usually 220V) AC power input module (PIM). Install AC power input modules (PIMs) before version R and/or

power modules before version M requiring voltage input: 175 to 250 Vac rms.

From 85 to 132 Vac RMS: (120 to 188 Vac, pk), 47 to 63 Hz. This option uses AC power and is low voltage (on

Normal 110V) AC power input module (PIM). Install AC power input modules (PIMs) before version R and/or

power modules before version M requiring voltage input: 85 to 125 Vac rms.

88 to 140 Vdc: This option uses DC power and is a high voltage DC power input module (PIM). 20 to 30 Vdc:

This option is low voltage DC power supply and is a Low Voltage DC power supply module (PIM).

Out-of-limit protection: For all power supply types, low voltage will not damage the power supply or PIM. An out-of-range voltage will open the fuse on the PIM.

Power OK LED: When the power supply is working normally, the light is on.

Single point grounding wire connection: To avoid grounding loops, the system must provide a single point of

grounding, and the power input module provides you with a switch to distinguish where the control system is

grounded. If two power supplies are installed, then both switches need to be adjusted to the same position.

When the power input module is delivered, the switch is turned off. The grounding system is led to the terminal

connector through the END, if the system is grounded in another place, such as with an external security

device, the switch needs to be turned to (OPENED). The following illustration shows how to jump the switch to the (OPENED) position.
