Description

The IC698CPE020 is manufactured by GE Automation and is a CPU of the PACSystems RX7i series. It enables real-time control of the machine and communicates with other rack modules through the standard VME backplane. Operation and control of the IC698CPE020 is done through a connected computer or an on-board three-position switch, which can be disabled if desired. The device has a 700MHz Pentium III floating-point microprocessor. The standard execution speed of the processor is 0.14 milliseconds per 1000 Boolean contacts. 10 megabytes of volatile memory (RAM) and 10 megabytes of flash memory (NVRAM) are available. A CMOS battery is required to support volatile memory. Flash memory is non-volatile. RAM and NVRAM can be used for user data, programming configuration, storing symbolic variables, and any information related to registers. Operating system firmware is also stored in NVRAM. To update the firmware, simply connect the IC698CPE020 to a computer using the appropriate serial port and run the update software.
