The VMIVME-7740 can also act as a VMEbus controller and interact with other VMEbus controllers. The VMEbus module Bridges to VMEbus via onboard pci and Endian conversion hardware.
The VMIVME-7740 can be accessed as a VMEbus standby board. The VMEbus feature is available by programming the PCI-to-Vmebus bridge of the VMIVME-7740 optional pci – according to the references defined in this volume and/or Volume II vmebus Interface Board Title :VMIVME-7740 Tundra Universe II™ -based VMEbus Interface Product Manual (document number 500-007740-001).
In this manual, all references to Universe II refer to Universe IIB. The VMIVME-7740 programmer can quickly and easily control all VMEbus functions simply by linking to interrupts and control functions in the VMEbus library. The library is available for Windows NT users in conjunction with VMIC’s VMISFT-9420 IOWorks Access software.
The VMIVME-7740 also offers typical PC/ AT-compatible SBCS including a universal timer, programmable watchdog timer, a bootable flash drive system, and a non-volatile SRAM. These features make the unit ideal for embedded applications. These non-standard PC/AT features are discussed in Chapter 4 of this manual.
