(1) Classification by turn-off, turn-on and control mode
According to its turn-off, turn-on and control mode, the thyristor can be divided into ordinary thyristor, bidirectional thyristor, reverse thyristor, gate turn-off thyristor (GTO), BTG thyristor, temperature controlled thyristor and light controlled thyristor.

According to its pins and polarity, the thyristors can be divided into two pole thyristors, three pole thyristors and four pole thyristors.
(3) Classification by encapsulation form
According to its encapsulation form, the thyristors can be divided into three types: metal encapsulation thyristors, plastic encapsulation thyristors and ceramic encapsulation thyristors. Among them, metal encapsulation thyristors are divided into bolt shape, plate shape, round shell shape and so on. Plastic sealed thyristor is divided into two types with and without heat sink.
(4) Classification by current capacity
According to current capacity, the thyristors can be divided into three types: high power thyristors, medium power thyristors and low power thyristors. In general, high power thyristors are usually packaged with metal shell, while medium and low power thyristors are usually packaged with plastic or ceramic.
(5) Classification by turn-off speed
According to its closing speed, the thyristor can be divided into ordinary thyristor and high frequency (fast) thyristor.
