MRU 2 is commonly used for measurements in roll and pitch offshore riser monitoring systems; Dynamic positioning system, telecommunication antenna system and high altitude motion damping system speed artifact.
This device must be mounted in a fixed orientation and is best suited for use with limited rolling and pitching ranges. If unlimited installation requires orientation and/or unlimited installation range; One of the MRU models with sensors on all three axes is recommended.

The MRU 2 contains two highly accurate accelerometers and two micro-electro-mechanical structures (MEMS) angular velocity gyros. This unit realizes the use of solid state sensor without resistance, reliability of high rotation or mechanical wear parts. The device provides Windows-based configuration and data presentation software. By configuring the unit vector in gravity (CG) between the MRU and the center of the ship, the MRU 2 will output accurate roll and pitch measurements even when it is mounted on a tall ship, as on a bridge. This is due to the ability to suppress the effects of horizontal acceleration on the roll as well as the pitch performance. This makes the MRU 2 superior to inclinometer, pendulum device, and standard vertical-meter reference units.
