Mechanical connections to the motor shaft, such as couplings and pulleys, require a torsionally rigid coupling or reinforced timing belt. The highly dynamic performance of servo motors can cause couplings, pulleys or belts to loosen or slip over time. A loose or slipping connection will cause system instability and may cause damage to the motor shaft. All connections between the system and the servo motor shaft must be rigid for an acceptably responsive system. Regularly check the rigidity of the connections. When installing a coupling or pulley onto the motor shaft, make sure the connection is properly aligned and that the axial and radial loads are within the motor’s specifications. Refer to “Power Ratings” on page 14 for motor loads for guidance on how to achieve 20,000 hours of motor bearing life.
Protection against electrical noise
Electromagnetic interference (EMI), commonly referred to as noise, can adversely affect motor performance by inducing stray signals. Effective techniques for combating EMI include filtering AC power, shielding and separating signal-carrying lines, and practicing good grounding techniques.
Effective AC mains filtering can be achieved with isolated AC power transformers or properly installed AC line filters. Avoid Electromagnetic Interference:
1. Physically separate signal wires from motor cables and power wires. Do not route the signal wires with the motor and power wires, or the exhaust port of the servo drive.
2. All equipment adopts single-point parallel grounding system grounding, which adopts ground busbar or large strap. If needed, use additional electrical noise reduction technology to reduce electromagnetic interference in noisy environments.
