MVI56E-MCMR is a ProSoft Technology communications module, an Allen-Bradley inclusive partner company. The module supports MODBUS serial/ASCII communication and is equipped with dual RS232 serial application ports. These ports support RS232 / RS485 and RS422 electrical standards and can be configured with baud rates ranging from 110 baud to 115.2 kbps. Acceptable serial Settings include none, odd or even parity, data bits 5, 6, 7, and 8; The stop bit is 1 or 2, and the RTS on/off delay is 0-65535 ms. The module also comes with a debugging/configuration port in the form of an RJ45 Ethernet port. The port supports 10/100 base-T transmission speeds and features link and active LED indicators as well as automatic cross-cable detection.
The MVI56E-MCMR is a single-slot module that can be installed directly into any 1756 chassis.
To configure module operations and parameters, you can use ProSoft Configuration Builder(PCB) and Product Discovery Service (PDS).
With fewer data blocks, the MVI56E-MCMR requires less backplane/network bandwidth and supports simpler scheduling and transmission over the control network. In addition, simplified data blocks are actually used for remote case installation when used with ControlNet communications adapters and redundant controllers.
To install the Prosoft MVI56E-MCMR module, the user must have an Allen-Bradley ControlLogix processor, a free slot in the rack for Modbus modules, and an 800 mA available power supply and a 5 volt DC backplane power supply. The device also requires an additional 3 mA of current from a 24 volt DC supply. This enhanced Modbus master/Slave communication module can be stored in temperatures ranging from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius (-40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit), but can only be used in temperatures ranging from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit). For data transfer between the MVI56E-MCMR and the processor, sample ladder instructions or additional instructions are used. On the top front of the device, there is a scrolling LED display that displays four characters, showing the status and diagnosis letter in plain English
