Technical Description AS-BDAU-204：

Modicon AS-BDAU-204 is an analog input module manufactured by Schneider Electric. The device has four channels and no optical isolation. It performs a number of tasks, including dual-slope integral analog-to-digital conversion, converting analog values to 12-digit digital values. This was done within the recommended limits. You can use Modicon AS-BDAU-204 with a two-wire +/ -500 mV sensor field device or a PT100 four-wire resistance temperature detector field device.

For the ASBDAU204 configuration, the power connection uses 60/75 copper (Cu) and 4.5 “lb. Torque of the set screw. To prevent errors in device operation, follow the following guidelines:

Use shielded twisted pair cables (such as Belden 9418).

Ground the shield of each signal cable at DAU 204 only. At the other end of each signal cable, strip the shield to insulate it from the signal cable.

Lay each signal cable as far away as possible from electrical noise sources such as motors, transformers, contactors, and especially AC equipment.

Lay the signal cables in conduits different from the AC and power cables.

If signal cables must cross AC or power cables, make sure they cross at right angles.

When connecting field equipment to modules, keep the unshielded portion of the signal transmission line as short as possible.

After wiring terminals, use the provided key to prevent terminal switching.

Modicon AS-BDAo-204 is a 4-channel analog output module for controlling adjustable frequency drivers, positioning valves, dampers, etc. Each channel can be configured independently to provide voltage or current loop output.

For proper operation, the module requires an external power supply (250mA @ 24VDC). When external power is not in use, the module obtains power from the internal bus and gives an error reading. Do not leave this module unpowered in the rack.

ASBDAU204 module has an open current loop (break line) detection function, warning via LED and accessible register. ASBDAU204 can be configured to save the last value in the event that communication with the CPU is lost for more than 1 second, the CPU is stopped or powered off.

How do I use AS-BDAU-204

For ASBDAU204 configuration, it is recommended that the unused channels be set to voltage mode. This setting turns off the red LED current loop error indicator and alarm bit. Alternatively, the unused current output channel should be short-circuited. You must use both poles to set the channel’s mode correctly; Failure to do so will produce ineffective results.
